Charlie and Ellie

Charlie is an approx. 11 year old chocolate labrador. He has lived in Basingstoke for 7 years since being rescued from a family in Wales. He has a grey muzzle and has a distinguished look about him.

Charlie has never stopped being a puppy and is excited by everything. He still jumps up and down, he loves to run after other dogs.

Charlie has never learnt to chase balls or frisbies and is happy to plod around an enclosed space having a good sniff.

Charlie is currently walked 3 times a day. Approx 1.5km in the morning and then 0.5km in the afternoons and evenings. Charlie has poor recall so is walked on a lead or extender lead.

Charlie is fit and healthy. The only noticeable concern is 2 lipomas, one on his flank and one in his groin. Both have been biopsied and pose no risk. In December 2024 he had his teeth cleaned by vets under GA. Charlie is fully vaccinated including kennel cough.

Charlie is fed on butternut frozen food (1/2 pack per day split ¼ AM and ¼ PM) treats are charcoal biscuits and tooth chews.

Charlie is a “gobbler” and will make himself sick eating unsavoury items on his walk. This needs attention as he will eat anything!

Charlie is fine around other animals and children.

Ellie is an approx. 10-year-old labrador with a white/golden appearance. She was rescued by LLT in the Spring of 2023 after being found in her deceased owner’s home. She has lived in Basingstoke for 2 years

Ellie has the appearance of an older lady. She is happier on her bed near a radiator than she is walking. Ellie is walked the same distance as Charlie, but she is visibly tired at the end of any walk. Ellie loves to lay in the sun but is at risk of overheating.

Ellie loves to chase a ball but quickly tires and wil often limp. Throwing balls and having her chase should be avoided. Ellie has age related deterioration of her back hips and notable muscle wastage according to the vets. She is otherwise fit and healthy. Ellie is fully vaccinated including kennel cough

Ellie has no recall at all and needs to be walked on a lead. She will also chase cats and squirrels.

Ellie is fed on butternut in the same ration as Charlie. Ellie gets very excted at dinner times and will hop up and down. Care should be taken on laminate floors as her back end is weaker and she can slip.

Ellie like to lick and this I have not been able to stop. She will lick people and furniture. She will also chew up and eat sticks making herself ill. Plenty of balls and olive wood sticks or antlers seem to be the solution to this.
